State and Public Parks

300 Riverside Drive

Located on the north side of Clayton, Frink Park boasts expansive channel views up and down the river, while offering comfortable seating for visitors. Many locals and tourists alike enjoy fishing from the Frink Park cement dock area and spending their evenings watching the sunset over the islands. The Park plays host to regular summer evening concerts and you may be lucky enough to catch one of the mega-yachts or cruise ships that stop off in Clayton, docking at Frink Park. The Park sits along Clayton's scenic river walk and is only feet from the Dygert House and Cottages on James.

Clayton's picturesque Centennial Park is located along the Village's north western shore where French Creek Bay opens into the St. Lawrence River. Appointed with comfortable Adirondack chairs and picnic tables, the Park is perfectly sited with up-river channel views and stunning summer sunsets. On clear nights you can see the lights all the way to Kingston, Ontario. The park is open to the public, welcomes dogs, and can't be beat as a place to enjoy a picnic, relax before dinner, or listen to the waves lap against the seawall.

Village Park and Playground

Park Circle

Centrally located in Clayton and only three blocks from Riverside Drive, the Village Park and Playground offers endless family fun with its extensive array of slides, monkey bars, climbers, and swings. There's something for every age kid and for those older visitors, the many built-in tables under the shaded grove make for an ideal picnic location. On Thursdays the Park plays host to Clayton's weekly farmer's market during the summer and even has basketball and tennis courts for pickup games or lessons. Free parking is available along John Street or in the Catholic Churches rear parking area.

The 28-acre Cerow Recreation Park is a hub of community activity all year round, especially in the summer when it plays host to weekly events and shows, including craft fairs, boat shows, sporting events, and more. The Park's many amenities are open to the public and include an olympic size swimming pool, ice arena in the winter, lighted basketball and tennis courts, lights baseball, softball, and soccer fields, an open air pavilion, and walking trails. The pavilion may be rented for private events, $50 per day for village residents and $100 per day for non-village residents.

Museums and Cultural Sites

750 Mary St

Clayton, NY

Located in the heart of the 1000 Islands on the St. Lawrence River, the Antique Boat Museum is the premier freshwater boating museum in North America. The ABM’s collections hold over 320 unique boats and thousands of related artifacts and archives. The Museum's 4.5 acre campus comes alive with speedboat rides, a working skiff livery, and educational programs for all ages. The ABM hosts many special events including the longest running annual boat show in early August. The Museum and its grounds are available for private weddings, personal events, and corporate retreats.

38973 Zenda Road

Managed by the Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT), Zenda Farms was a dairy farm and later became a beef farm that operated into the 1960s. Now, its agricultural history is preserved for future generations to discover and its pastures and meadows are conserved for grassland birds. Zenda sits just west of the village and offers a wide array of activities from hiking to community gardening to social events. Zenda is  home to the annual Community Picnic, as well as numerous TILTreks, KidsTreks and often, TILTKids Camp.

The Thousand Islands Arts Center, home of the Handweaving Museum, is a nonprofit educational institution located two blocks from the banks of the St. Lawrence River, is concerned with preserving the skills of traditional artists and artisans and supporting the heritage arts. The Arts Center maintains a year round arts curriculum, a permanent textile collection and library, and two dedicated studios for weaving and pottery. The Arts Center also organizes additional educational programs, an annual weaving conference and several yearly exhibitions for the public.

Golf Courses

105 State Street

Clayton, NY

The Clayton Country Club is located inside the Village of Clayton along NY State Route 12. The 9-hole course is open to the public from late April to early October and is perfect for golfers of all skill levels. Green fees for the 2023 season are $14 for for golf and $24 for a cart on nine holes. The Club also offers a paddleball and pickleball court for both members and nonmembers. The clubhouse welcomes visitors to its fully stocked bar all year round and is a local favorite for watching a game, catching up with friends, or relaxing after a satisfying day on the course.

Located just 2 miles south of Clayton, the C-Way Golf Course is a public golf course that specializes in group golf packages and tournaments. The 18-hole course records are par 71 and is 5900 yards long with numerous water hazards, sand traps, elevated tees and greens. After a long day on the course, visitors can grab a bite to eat and relax at Natali's Restaurant and bar, serving homemade Italian dishes, seafood and specialty dessert pies. Groups of up to 150 people can be accommodated at the restaurant's banquet facilities that overlook the practice green and first tee.

For those golfers not quite as serious about their game, or perhaps a little young to drive a ball 200 yards, River Golf Adventures provides the perfect outing for families, friend groups, and couples looking to enjoy a river inspired fun filled outing. Hours are sure to melt away at River Golf Adventures between their 10-hole mini golf course, covered driving range, bumper boats, treasure dig, and arcade facilities. And best of all, the parking lot is shared with Clayton Distillery where parents and adults can pickup a delicious wine slushy or taste an array of fine craft spirits.

Wineries, Breweries, and Distilleries

Wood Boat Brewery is Clayton's only village microbrewery offering a full line of craft beers, ciders, and kombuchas. The restaurant and brewery are conveniently located directly across from the Antique Boat Museum with river views from the outdoor dining deck or upstairs event space. Wood Boat serves some of the best brick oven pizzas in the region and has a full menu of local farm-to-table dishes. The Charter Room, located above the pub style lounge, is a perfect event venue with capacity for 80 guests. Wood Boat Brewery is a true local experience and one stop on your visit you wont want to miss.

With over 1000 awards from wine competitions across the country, Coyote Moon is one of the most award winning wineries in New York State being named the 2016 & 2017 New York State Winery of the Year. With two tasting rooms, one downtown Clayton and one at the vineyard on the outskirts of town, there is a setting for every type of visitor to enjoy a glass of wine. Every Sunday from June-September, Coyote Moon hosts a bargain filled flea market at the vineyard with free admission. Visitors may also want to checkout one of Coyote Moon's Wine Cruises every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening.

Northern Flow Vineyards is a recent enological addition to the Thousand Islands, opening in 2015 as part of the DeLuke's Garden Center. In addition to enjoying a glass of wine at their tasting room along Route 12, visitors to Northern Flow can shop for their latest garden additions and enjoy live music on the outdoor patio. The winery regularly hosts live music nights with a local food truck pairing and horticultural themed events like their Wine and Wreath making workshop hosted during the holiday season in December. For those who fall in love with the wine, Northern Flow offers a variety of different club memberships.

Saint Lawrence Spirits is a family owned and operated distillery located on the outskirts of Clayton. They take pride in their award winning spirits and diverse product lines including Vodka, Gin, Absinthe, Moonshine, Whiskey and Bourbon. St. Lawrence Spirits is the first distillery to use St. Lawrence River water to proof down all of its spirits, providing "The Spirit Of The River In Every Bottle."  The view from the tasting room and restaurant is spectacular as the facilities site high on a Palisades bluff overlooking the shoreline and shipping channel.

Sustainability and local agronomy are at the heart of Clayton Distillery, the Thousand Islands first micro-distillery. Clayton Distillery currently produces premium grade lines of vodka (flagship, admiral’s berry, garlic), gin, unaged corn whisky (moonshine), limoncello, liqueur (raspberry, maple strawberry, strawberry rhubarb), straight bourbon, flavored whisky (maple, heatwave cinnamon), and flavored moonshine (lemonade, apple pie, cherry, peach vanilla). The majority of the ingredients originate from the owners 400 acre farm in Cape Vincent and the tasting room was built to LEED certified standards.
